Introducing Small Bowls: Bringing Students Back to the Ruba Table

Small Bowls are here, starting at €11.95. A smaller bowl at a smaller price, created to bring healthy, fresh food back within reach of more people, especially students.

Why we needed to make a change

Ruba was built around a clear mission: building healthier communities by bringing people closer to healthy and fresh food. That mission has to include the people who are still studying, finding their feet and building their futures.

Over the years, inflation and rising costs pushed our prices up. Gradually, we became too expensive for many students. We had priced out an important part of our community: our youth.

That was difficult to reconcile with what Ruba stands for. If we want to bring people closer to healthy food, we have to pay attention when price starts keeping them away.

A smaller bowl. A smaller price.

Our bowls have always been generous. Compared with many alternatives, Ruba portions are on the larger side. That gave us room to create a smaller format at a lower price.

We kept our existing bowls and added a new category: Small Bowls. We did not reduce our standard portions while keeping the same price. Instead, we introduced an additional choice, with a smaller portion and a smaller bill.

Small at Ruba still means generous. Our Small Bowls are comparable in size to what other bowl brands offer as a regular or even large bowl. The new format gives customers more choice while keeping healthy, fresh food at the centre of the meal.

Making room for students again

With Small Bowls starting at €11.95, we are opening the door to students again. Whether you are grabbing lunch between lectures, meeting friends or eating after a long day, there is now a more accessible way to make Ruba part of your routine.

For us, this launch is about staying true to our mission. A healthier community should include young people, and our menu should reflect that.

To every student who felt Ruba had moved beyond their budget: we want you back at the table.
